Massachusetts Restricting Nursing Home Advertising For Dementia Care
On August 21, 2015, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) informed nursing home provider organizations that they cannot advertise that they provide “memory care” or similar services unless they meet state dementia care standards. In February 2015, DPH asked nursing homes to disclose whether the facility and staff met DPH training and design requirements for providing specialized dementia care services. Previously, the state allowed nursing homes to advertise for dementia care in the past, even if they had not met all of the requirements.
