Lawsuit Challenges Ohio Medicaid MCO Denials Of Autism Treatment
On August 25, 2015, a lawsuit filed in federal district court alleged that the Ohio Medicaid program and managed care organization (MCO) CareSource have refused to approve coverage of intensive applied behavioral analysis (ABA) for a child diagnosed with autism. The plaintiffs allege that the state and CareSource have violated the federal regulations for Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic, and Treatment (EPSDT) services. No hearing date has been set.
