California Court Orders Los Angeles Charter School To Cease Interfering With Efforts To Unionize Teachers
On October 27, 2015, a California court issued a temporary restraining order (TRO) against Alliance College-Ready Public Charter Schools (Alliance) to prohibit it from interfering with efforts to unionize its teachers at its 27 Los Angeles area campuses. United Teachers Los Angeles (UTLA) had complained to the California Public Employment Relations Board (PERB) that the charter school was using its charter status to harass and threaten teachers for trying to unionize.
UTLA alleged that the charter school was intimidating employees, denying UTLA organizers access to school buildings, and blocking e-mails. While TRO is in effect, PERB will investigate . . .
