Between 2005 to 2015, employee cost sharing requirements for those enrolled in an employer-sponsored health plan increased by 134%, rising from a per-person annual average of $2,001 in 2005 to $4,698 in 2015. Cost sharing requirements include premiums, copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles. In 2015, employees contributed $2,490 toward the premium costs and another $2,208 for out-of-pocket cost sharing.
