Ohio Legislature Forms Task Force To Consider Legalizing Medical Marijuana
On January 14, 2016, the Ohio House of Representatives formed a bipartisan Medical Marijuana Task Force to consider legalizing the use of medical marijuana. The formation of the task force was prompted by the “Fresh Start Act,” an initiated statue developed by ResponsibleOhio, which also developed a defeated 2015 ballot measure to legalize marijuana for medical and recreational use. The Fresh Start Act was intended as a follow-up to the ballot measure and was modeled after a 2011 state law that allows people to ask to have conviction records expunged for certain firearms convictions that happened before prior law . . .
