CMS To Launch Recovery Audit Contracts For Medicare Advantage Plans

The federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is preparing to launch recovery audit contractors (RAC) for the Medicare Advantage program. CMS has been operating Medicare RAC programs for Parts A and B since January 2010. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) calls for the Medicare RAC program to be expanded to cover Medicare Advantage plans. On December 22, 2015, CMS released a draft statement of work for recovery audit contractors for the Medicare Advantage program. Responses were due by February 1, 2016.
