California Medicaid Program Preparing To Launch Whole Person Care Pilot Testing Housing & Support Service Models

By May 1, 2016, the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) plans to release an application for counties seeking to participate in the state’s new Medi-Cal 2020 waiver Whole Person Care (WPC) pilot program that may test interventions that provide both housing and supportive services. The WPC pilots will focus on groups of high-risk and high-utilizer people who have or are at risk of repeated incidents of avoidable emergency use or hospital admissions.
