21% Of Primary Care Visits By Consumers Covered By Medicaid In Expansion States, Compared To 9.6% In Non-Expansion States
In 2015, in states that expanded Medicaid to low-income, uninsured adults not otherwise eligible for Medicaid, about 21% of primary care visits were by consumers covered by Medicaid. In non-expansion states, about 9.6% of primary care visits were by consumers covered by Medicaid. About 2.0% of visits in expansion states were by uninsured consumers compared to 4.7% of consumer visits in non-expansion states.
