South Carolina Medicaid Limits Mental Health Professionals Eligible To Deliver Rehabilitative Behavioral Services

On April 1, 2016, South Carolina Medicaid implemented changes to its Rehabilitative Behavioral Health Services (RBHS) policies to limit the types of mental health professionals eligible to deliver RBHS. The services can now only be delivered by the following types of mental health professionals:

A qualified, licensed practitioner of the healing arts in accordance with their applicable South Carolina practice act.
A professional in training pursuing an independent license during a documented supervised period of clinical practice in accordance with their applicable South Carolina practice act.
