Connecticut Officials To Close Two Regional Developmental Disability Centers By June 30, 2016

On March 24, 2016, the Connecticut Department of Developmental Services (DDS) announced that it plans to close two of the state’s five regional centers by June 30, 2016. The 40 residents of Ella T. Grasso Regional Center in Stratford and Meriden Regional Center in Meriden will have the choice of relocating to one of the three other DDS regional centers – in Norwalk, Newington, and Torrington – or to move into public or private community-based settings. DDS will work with individuals, families, and staff to implement careful and effective transitions.
