Canadian Researchers Develop IDD Primary Care ‘Health Check’ Guideline
On April 1, 2016, the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) in Ontario, Canada released a toolkit to assist primary care professionals who care for consumers with diagnosed or suspected intellectual or developmental disabilities (IDD) complete preventive “health checks.” This toolkit was developed as part of a larger research program focused on improving the health status and health care provided to over 66,000 adults with IDD in Ontario. The toolkit is intended to help primary care teams implement “health checks” to provide better, more proactive care for consumers with IDD.
