Federal Judge Orders Illinois Medicaid To Arrange For Community-Based Nursing Care To Children With Severe Disabilities
On April 6, 2016, a federal district court judge issued a preliminary injunction ordering the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) to arrange for community-based home nursing care for Medicaid-eligible children with severe disabilities and medical conditions. HFS has already pre-authorized the services for more than 1,200 children, but for numerous children, HFS has failed to arrange for the level of services authorized.
