Maryland Medicaid Seeks Waiver Approval To Grant Presumptive Eligibility To Ex-Offenders At Reentry

The Maryland Medicaid program is planning to develop a presumptive eligibility processes to connect Medicaid-eligible individuals leaving jails and state prison with Medicaid coverage to facilitate their reentry into their communities upon release. On April 29, 2016, the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) released the plans in a draft Medicaid 1115 waiver renewal application for its HealthChoice mandatory Medicaid managed care program.
