Texas Plans To Change How It Defines A ‘Psychologist’
On June 7, 2016, the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists released draft revisions to its definition for the “practice of psychology” and by extension the definition of a “psychologist.” The draft definition differs from the existing definition in that it identifies activities that are not included in the practice of psychology. In a key clarification, advice offered within the context of peer-support services designed to assist individuals with self-identified goals is not considered “the practice of psychology.”
