The Veterans Health Administration Processed 66% Of Community Provider Claims Within 30 Days In 2015

In fiscal year 2015, the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) claims processing locations processed only 66% of claims from community-based provider organizations within 30 days after the claims were submitted. A key problem for the VHA is that about 60% of claims are paper-based and must be scanned into the electronic claims system. A VHA directive states that 90% of all claims for the Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA) care in the community services must be processed (either paid or rejected) within 30 days of receipt.
