Rhode Island Rebids Medicaid Managed Care Contracts With Focus On Alternative Payment Models

On July 14, 2016, the Rhode Island Medicaid program released a request for proposals (RFP 7550787) for managed care organizations (MCOs). Proposals are due by September 12, 2016, and the contracts are slated to begin February 1 and April 1, 2017 and run through June 30, 2022. The new procurement places new emphasis on alternative payment model (APM) arrangements. In addition, the MCOs are to include specialized behavioral health and opioid treatment programs, as well as home-and community-based services (HCBS).
