Maryland Medicaid Proposes Adding Residential Addiction Treatment Benefit
Maryland Medicaid is seeking federal approval to launch new residential treatment benefits for adults with substance useĀ disorders (SUD). The new benefit would be for adults between the ages of 21 and 64 who are enrolled in a Maryland Medicaid managed care organization (MCO) and who receive treatment in a privately run institution of mental disease (IMD). The treatment would align with residential levels of care and withdrawal management defined by the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM). Most ASAM levels of residential care would be effective July 1, 2017.
