California Begins Overhaul Of Child Welfare Information System
The California Department of Technology and the Department for Social Services (CDSS) are in the process of overhauling the state’s 20-year old Child Welfare Information System/Case Management System (SACWIS/CMS). Starting in late 2016 or early 2017, child welfare caseworkers and social workers in Butte, Fresno, Los Angeles, Santa Cruz, Ventura, and Yolo counties will participate in a beta test of the new intake module. The new intake module is the first of several digital services that when fully completed will replace the current SACWIS/CMS.
