CMS To Test Options For Improving Medicare Consumer Engagement
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is preparing to test two models—Direct Decision Support (DDS) and Shared Decision Making (SDM)—for improving consumer engagement among Medicare beneficiaries. The models take different approaches to shared decision making, acknowledging that beneficiaries make decisions regarding treatment options in a variety of ways. The goal of both is the same: to improve beneficiary engagement in their health care by helping beneficiaries better understand their health and the health care decisions open to them.
