Recent Child Deaths Prompt Changes At NYC Administration Of Children’s Services
The New York City Administration for Children’s Services Commissioner (ACS) is going through major changes brought about by intense public scrutiny following the deaths of Zymere Perkins, 6, and Jaden Jordan, 3, in September and December, respectively. Most notable among these is the abrupt resignation on December 12 of New York City Administration for Children’s Services Commissioner (ACS) Gladys Carrión. The day after her announcement, three other agency workers were fired, and the city accepted an order for an independent monitor of ACS from the State of New York’s Office of Children and Family Services.
