Outcomes Of Opioid MAT, Telepsychiatry Equivalent To Face-To-Face Treatment

Treatment outcomes for people receiving medication-assisted treatment (MAT) with buprenorphine for opioid addiction were equivalent for those who received counseling via telehealth technology and those who attended in-person office visits for counseling. Those who received face-to-face counseling had no significantly better outcomes in terms of additional substance use and the number of days before they achieved 30 days of consecutive abstinence and 90 days of abstinence. Treatment retention rates at 90 days and 365 days were not significantly different between the two groups. The majority of both groups experienced at least one relapse.
