7.1 Million Consumers Used Remote Monitoring, Connected Medical Devices In 2016
In 2016, there were 7.1 million people using remote monitoring systems and connected medical devices, up 44% from 2015 when about 5 million people were using these technologies. The 7.1 million user figure includes those enrolled in programs that use connected medical devices as part of a care plan. It does not include people using connected devices for various forms of personal health tracking. By 2021, an estimated 50.2 million people are projected to be using remote monitoring and connected medical devices, representing an annual compounded growth rate of 47.9%.
