Veterans Affairs To Replace VistA With Commercial EHR
On March 8, 2017, Veterans Affairs (VA) Secretary David Shulkin, M.D., told the House Committee on Veterans Affairs that the VA intended to adopt a commercial electronic health record (EHR) system to replace VistA, its current EHR system. The VA developed VistA (Veterans Information Systems and Technology Architecture) in-house starting in the late 1970s, and expanded it system wide during the 1980s.
