NQF Recommends Updated Quality Measures For HHS

In March 2017, the National Quality Forum’s Measure Applications Partnership (MAP) recommended that the federal government remove 51 health care quality measures from 240 measure sets used in seven federal health care value-based purchasing, public reporting, and other programs. The MAP recommendation noted that higher value measures are needed for the Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) accountable care organization (ACO) programs and for the upcoming Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS). MAP also provided recommendations to improve measure sets used by nine other federal programs.
