Ohio Proposal Would Extend DODD Remote Home Monitoring Services To 400 More Waiver Beneficiaries
The Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) plans to increase its use of remote monitoring by 400 more slots as a strategy to help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) live in community settings and reduce reliance on direct care staff. DODD began offering remote monitoring as a Medicaid waiver reimbursable service in 2012, and offered about 200 slots. As of 2017, about 170 waiver enrollees are using remote monitoring technology. DODD plans to increase the use of remote monitoring to 600 individuals within two years.
