Feds Finalize Rules For 2018 Individual Health Insurance Marketplace
On April 16, 2017, the federal Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) released final rules for stabilizing the Health Insurance Marketplace. The final rules set requirements for documentation of special enrollment requests, and payment of back premiums before re-enrollment. Other changes shorten the annual open enrollment period, set standards on guaranteed availability, adjust standards related to network adequacy and essential community providers for qualified health plans, and relax the rules around actuarial value requirements.
