U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement Awards The GEO Group A 1,000-Bed Detention Facility Contract In Texas

On April 13, 2017, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) awarded a contract to the GEO Group (GEO) for the development and operation of a new detention facility located in Conroe, Texas. The 1,000-bed facility will be designed, financed, built, and operated by GEO as part of a 10-year, renewable contract with an annualized value of about $44 million. The facility is expected to be completed, and open, in the fourth quarter of 2018.
