New Jersey Opens First Prison Facility Focused On Addiction Treatment
On March 9, 2017, the New Jersey Department of Corrections (DOC) awarded Gateway Foundation a contract valued at $29.2 million to provide addiction treatment services at Mid-State Correctional Facility, which will operate as an addiction treatment center for inmates. The contract will run for five years, followed by three one-year renewals. The DOC estimates that about 70% of state prisoners have alcohol or drug addiction disorders.
