Health Transformation Alliance Launches Health Purchasing Initiative For Self-Insured Companies
In February 2017, the Health Transformation Alliance (HTA), which includes 37 large self-insured corporations, launched the first of several arrangements to reduce health care costs by transforming inefficient health care and pharmacy purchasing and contracting systems. HTA partnered with pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) CVS Health and OptumRx for a pharmacy initiative, and partnered with UnitedHealthcare and Cigna for a medical network purchasing arrangement.
