Washington State To Implement New Applied Behavior Analysis Credential Requirements
On July 1, 2017, the Washington Health Care Authority (HCA) plans to implement new credentialing for Medicaid professionals providing applied behavioral analysis (ABA) services. The new credentials are licensed behavior analyst (LBA), licensed assistant behavior analyst (LABA), and certified behavior technician (CBT). Licensed psychologists, mental health counselors, social workers, and marriage and family therapists will be able to provide ABA services without an additional credential if they have the appropriate education and training to provide ABA services and have submitted an ABA attestation to the agency’s provider enrollment unit.
