Texas Has The Highest Maternal Mortality Rate In The United States

The maternal mortality rate in Texas was about 35.8 deaths per 100,000 live births in 2014, about 66.5% higher than the overall rate for the rest of the United States. The estimated United States maternal mortality rate in 2014 was 21.5 deaths per 100,000 live births for 48 states (excluding California and Texas) and the District of Columbia.
