Brevard County, Florida Mental Health Court Curbs Recidivism
Among graduates of the Brevard County, Florida mental health court (MHC), those who completed the required treatment were less likely to be rearrested during the subsequent three years compared to those who were dismissed from the program before completion.  Three years after participating in the MHC program, 46% of graduates and 83% of non-graduates had been rearrested. Of those who did not complete the program and were rearrested within three years of being assigned to mental health court, the study found that the more days they spent in the MHC program, the less severe their crime types when rearrested . . .
