Minnesota Did Not Comply With Requirements For Family Adult Foster Care Homes

A federal review of 20 Minnesota family adult foster care homes for adults over age 65 found that 18 of the homes were out of compliance with one or more state licensing requirements related to health, safety, or administration. The review identified 64 instances of non-compliance, including instances in which knives were accessible without supervision, structural hazards, clutter, and unsafely stored weapons. The family adult foster homes are funded through the Minnesota Elderly Waiver program. The participants are Medicaid beneficiaries age 65 and older who require nursing home level of care, but who choose to live in the community . . .
