Under New CMS Hospital Care Rating Methodology, More Hospitals Earn Highest & Lowest Ratings
About 10% of hospitals in the United States earned a five-star overall rating on the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Hospital Compare website after CMS updated its rating methodology. This compares to about 2% under the previous methodology. Four key enhancements were made to the Overall Star Rating methodology for the December 2017 ratings, which include:
