Minnesota Reduced Diabetes Hospitalization Rates 22% Between 2006 & 2014

Minnesota reduced total diabetes-related hospitalization rates by 22% between 2006 and 2014, from 174.1 to 135.9 hospitalizations per 10,000 adults. This decline was driven by reductions in hospitalizations for long-term effects of repeatedly high blood sugars like eye, kidney and cardiovascular disease. These numbers include adults who have type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

These findings were reported in “Diabetes Hospitalization In Minnesota” by the Minnesota Department of Health. The department analyzed state hospitalization data between 2006 and 2014 to describe trends in diabetes.
