Tennessee Medicaid To Launch Two-Year Medication Therapy Management Pilot

On February 1, 2018, TennCare, Tennessee’s Medicaid program, received approval for a Medicaid waiver amendment that will allow the state to add pharmacist-delivered medication therapy management (MTM) as a benefit. MTM will be implemented as a two-year pilot program for TennCare members who are enrolled in Tennessee’s Health Link program and for individuals whose primary care professionals are participants in the state’s patient-centered medical home (PCMH) program. The goal is that the participating pharmacists will help TennCare members manage drug therapy and will identify, prevent, and resolve medication-related problems.
