Anthem To Pay $1.6 Million To Settle Indiana ABA Lawsuit

In a settlement filed on March 23, 2018, the health insurer Anthem, Inc. agreed to pay almost $1.63 million to end claims that it violated federal benefit laws by placing caps on the coverage of applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy treatments for Indiana children diagnosed with autism. The agreement was in a class-action lawsuit, W.P. v. Anthem Ins., which was filed in April 2015. On March 23, 2018, the plaintiffs filed for preliminary approval of the settlement in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana.
