Indiana Enacts Foster Parents’ Bill Of Rights
On April 3, 2018, Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb signed a law to direct the Indiana Department of Child Services (DCS) to create a “foster parent bill of rights.” Starting July 1, 2018, when the law goes into effect, DCS will work with foster parents, child placing agencies, and other individuals and organizations with expertise in foster care services to craft the “foster parent bill of rights.”
The goal is that the workgroup will develop a statement that summarizes the rights and responsibilities of a foster parent to a child placed in a foster family home. DCS must establish a plan . . .
