Louisiana Medicaid Preparing To End Medicaid Long-Term Care Program For Nursing Home Residents
On May 8, 2018, the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) notified nearly 37,000 Medicaid beneficiaries enrolled in the programs Provisional Medicaid, Medically Needy, Medically Needy Spenddown, or Long-Term Care Special Income, that the programs may end as of July 1, 2018. These programs provide benefits to people with disabilities who have income or assets that slightly exceed the Medicaid maximums. Before any eligibility program ends, enrollees will receive another letter from Medicaid letting them know whether there is a final change in coverage and eligibility.
