Herndon, Virginia To Become First ‘Dementia-Friendly’ Community In The State

In April 2018, Dementia Friendly America (DFA) announced it was working with the Town of Herndon, Virginia to create the first “Dementia Friendly” community in the state. DFA Herndon is a chapter of the larger Dementia Friendly America initiative to help communities develop policies and services for people with dementia and their families that promote respect and inclusion of people with dementia. To achieve these goals, DFA Herndon has held sessions with the local law enforcement to help them better communicate with people living with dementia.
