69% Of Residents Of Public Senior Housing Report Experiencing Loneliness

Approximately 69% of public senior housing community residents in St. Louis report loneliness. Of the residents surveyed, 42.7% were classified as moderately lonely, and 26.6% were classified as severely lonely.

These findings were reported in “Loneliness In Senior Housing Communities” by Harry Owen Taylor, Yi Wang, and Nancy Morrow-Howell. The researchers conducted a survey in three senior housing communities in St. Louis, Missouri that are funded under Section 202 Supportive Housing for the Elderly Program.
