Tech-Enabled Intervention Reduces Adolescent Postdischarge Suicide Attempts
The “As Safe as Possible” (ASAP) mobile application-enabled intervention reduced the incidence of postdischarge suicide attempts among adolescents by about 48.4%. Among youth hospitalized following suicide contemplation or attempt and discharged to standard care, 31% subsequently attempted suicide. Among a similar group of youth who were discharged to the ASAP intervention, 16% subsequently attempted suicide.
The ASAP intervention includes the components of standard postdischarge care plus use of a mobile application called BRITE.
