Maine Supreme Court Orders Medicaid Expansion To Go Forward
On August 23, 2018, the Maine Supreme Judicial Court ruled that the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) must implement the state's voter-mandated Medicaid expansion. In November 2017, Maine voters approved a ballot measure to expand Medicaid eligibility to non-disabled adults ages 18 to 64 whose income is below 138% of the federal poverty limit. The court ordered DHHS to submit a Medicaid State Plan Amendment (SPA) within 90 days.
