California To Launch Self-Determination Program For Individuals With I/DD
On July 1, 2018, the California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) began finalizing the self-determination program (SDP) that will be available for up to 2,500 individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) in its first three years. DDS has been operating a small self-determination pilot project in limited areas of the state with about 100 participants. A 2013 state law called on DDS to expand self-determination statewide.
