Deep Brain Stimulation Slowed Progression Of Parkinson’s Disease

Deep brain stimulation (DBS) slowed the progression of tremors in people diagnosed with early-stage Parkinson’s disease. A small study of 30 people age 50 to 70 and diagnosed with early-stage Parkinson’s disease compared differences in disease progression between a group taking only optimal drug therapy (ODT) and a group of people who were implanted with a DBS device and taking ODT.
