HHS Secretary Announces Goal Of Encouraging Medicare Home Dialysis
On March 4, 2019, U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) Secretary Azar announced a goal of changing the Medicare reimbursement payment methods to encourage a shift towards home dialysis and kidney transplants for those with end stage renal disease (ESRD). ESRD is the last stage of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and is characterized by permanent irreversible kidney failure.
