The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and the North Carolina Department of Public Safety (DPS) are partnering to create a medication-assisted treatment (MAT) pilot in three correctional centers for people with opioid use disorder (OUD). The program will provide FDA-approved medications, including naltrexone, for the treatment of opioid use disorder and naloxone to reverse opioid overdose. The goal is to decrease overdose-related deaths for those who re-enter the community after prison.
