On April 8, 2019, Corizon Health announced plans to expand a pilot medication assisted treatment (MAT) program for inmates with opioid use disorder. The pilot, which started in 2018, took place with the Philadelphia Department of Prisons, which contracts with Corizon to provide jail medical services. The program provides treatment with buprenorphine tablets during incarceration. All inmates receiving MAT are offered cognitive behavioral therapy. Upon release, the program participants are provided with a transition dosage package and referrals to continue community-based treatment.
