UNMC & Nebraska Medicine Launch Primary Care Consultation Program To Improve Statewide Behavioral Health Service Access

On July 1, 2019, the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) and Nebraska Medicine launched a primary care consultation program to improve statewide access to behavioral health services. The program provides consultation to primary care professionals (PCPs) to help them manage care for consumers with stable behavioral health disorders. During the first quarter of 2019, only about 8% of Nebraska Medicine psychiatrist visits were for new consumers; 92% were for follow-up visits.
