State Medicaid plan costs to implement and administer work requirements range from $6.1 million in New Hampshire to $271 million in Kentucky, according to early data from the first five states that have implemented them. The five states include Kentucky, Wisconsin, Indiana, Arkansas, and New Hampshire. Since January 2019, these five states that received approval for work requirements from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS) reported a range of up-front costs for administrative activities.
